Liverpool laboured again against supposedly lesser opposition, prompting some very perturbed looks to ripple around the Kop. Madrid eventually overcame Ludogorets, who have been much stiffer opposition than many thought they would be, despite losing twice. Dortmund and Arsenal rollicked to victory, and PSG and Roma each forced through one-goal wins for themselves against tough opponents. Some lovely goals and some mind-boggling misses occurred this week in Europe, as well as two fine goalkeeping performances, from Sporting Lisbon’s stopper Rui Patricio, and Ludogorets keeper Vladisav Stoyanov. The gifs of the best and the worst are embedded below.

Barca’s brilliance in vain

Totti’s first goal in England.

Rui Patricio’s heroics.

Calhanoglu’s miss against Benfica.

Stoyanov denies Ronaldo.

Aubameyang misses an empty net.

Kagawa’s lovely assist.

Danny’s sublime hat-trick clincher.
